Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Kevin and Marjorie Murphy. He is survived by his wife Sharon Lewis; his sister Sheila Murphy and brother Kevin Murphy; his children Fawn, Serena, Ian, and Brendan; and his beloved nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Following a career in writing, Dan worked as a grant writer for Everett Community College. Upon “retirement” he followed his passion for sports as a sports announcer for EvCC, the Seattle Wolfpack, and Everett School district and continued his commitment to education through many years of leading the Speech Club at Our Lady of Hope school and as a substitute teacher for the Archdiocese of Seattle. Dan also remained committed to workers rights by volunteering for the local WFSE union and Snohomish County Labor Council; to making a difference to this world by supporting and coaching local political candidates; and to serving his faith community at Our Lady of Hope parish in Everett.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 6, at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, 2617 Cedar Street, Everett, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in Hensen Hall.
Rest in Peace.
